ALADDIN documentation

note: ALADDIN here strictly refers to ALADDIN2, the java launchpad developed as part of the [ENGAGE] programme, in collaboration with the Open Middleware Infrastructure Institute [OMII]. The original ALADDIN, developed as part of the GENIEfy project, was a matlab toolbox and was one of the pieces of software which inspired the development of the new ALADDIN.

ALADDIN consists of a standalone front-end for running pre-compiled GENIE experiments and a (currently only imagined) fully functional launchpad/GUI for wider research use.

Stand-alone ALADDIN

With this version of ALADDIN you/your target users can

  • load and run pre-compiled GENIE experiments
  • alter values of 'exposed' parameters and re-run the experiment
  • visualise 2d and 3d output data from key parameters in real time
  • view 2d parameters and the end-state of 3d parameters of previous runs within the same experiment for comparison
  • view data from old experiments

Installation

Prerequisites

Windows To run ALADDIN2 under Windows, you will require Java. You may well have it installed already. To find out, try Java.com's Java detector. The latest version of Java can be downloaded from http://java.com

Linux / MacOS Under linux, you will require Java and NetCDF, along with bash. Windows users get away without the latter two because NetCDF and Cygwin are included as dlls. It's cheating really.
