Meeting minutes 29th January 2010.

We discussed direction of developments we're aiming to implement for the next IPCC report. We are aiming to complete developments by the end of this year (2010) so that we can run the models and write up our results next year (2011) in time for the IPCC deadline (which is approx. papers accepted by first quarter 2012).

We decided to try to implement our required changes (mainly ocean coupling and plume model, CHOMBO) in the lanl trunk if Steve P and Bill L are happy with this. We will aim to make changes that do not impede existing functionality, and to start a new branch only when this is not possible. We will aim for frequent merges/updates.

Actions:

  • RG to email Steve and Bill to check they are happy with this.
  • (after reply from Steve and Bill) SC to establish CHOMBO branch from the lanl trunk.
  • SS & GW to try using Doxygen on glimmer-cism, and also draw wall map of glimmer-cism calls.
  • SS & GW to try out Pardiso?

We also thought that a short glimmer-cism development workshop would be useful, in which someone knowledgable stands up and summarises the glimmer-cism coding structures and how to work effectively with them.
